Aerospace Qualifications

In Belgium welders are accredited as “aerospace welders” by the Department of Aviation if they meet international standard ISO 24394.

Requirements

What are the requirements for this accreditation?

• Eyesight test from an optician
• Passing the theory exam for welding skill and safety
• Establishing practical tests in consultation with an international welding engineer (IWE)
• Passing the practical welding test overseen by an organisation conforming to ISO 17024/17020.

Certificate

Upon passing, the accredited inspection body together with the international welding engineer issue a welding certificate to ISO 24394. This is valid for a maximum of 2 years.
