What is TIG welding?

TIG welding is an arc welding process: you strike an electric arc between a tungsten electrode and the workpiece. As the tungsten electrode does not melt, no filler metal is required. A shielding gas protects the welding area from atmospheric gas.

Applications

You can join together very thin gauge tubes, sheets and combinations using TIG welding. For thicker gauges this process is combined with other welding processes, such as semi-automatic welding and shielded-electrode welding.
